Explore History at Fort Ligonier

A former British garrison that still flies the flag of His Majesty King George, Fort Ligonier is one block from our hotel. Reserve your Fort Ligonier tour and package and explore this historic site, which is a full-blown reconstruction of the original fort that stood from 1758 through 1766 during the French and Indian War. Make time to check out the Fort Ligonier Museum where history and art galleries will add context to your visit. You will also see artillery demonstrations during special yearly events like Fort Ligonier Days.

  • How much of Fort Ligonier is preserved and what can I visit?

    A total of eight acres of the original site of Fort Ligonier have been preserved quite nicely. Reconstructed interior elements that can visited include the officers' mess, barracks, guardroom,  officers' quarters, commissary, and General Forbes's hut. Additional buildings range from the Pennsylvania hospital and a saw mill to a log dwelling and a smokehouse.
  • What can I see at the Fort Ligonier Visitor's Museum?

    History buffs will have a field day at the Fort Ligonier Museum. Fascinating works of art and interesting artifacts are on display in the French and Indian War Art Gallery, History Gallery, and The World Ablaze: An Introduction to the Seven Years' War Exhibit. Make sure to check out the George Washington Collection where you'll get an up-close look at the George Washington Pistols.
